The organizers of the competition for the new concert hall of Sinfonia Varsovia chose as a site large area strongly marked by the presence of semi-palatial buildings. Our proposal aims to complement this historical axial layout with a new metropolitan cultural center.
The intervention required both architectural and urban strategies. On the north side, public town square is created. The existing buildings frontages and the new volume close the Kobielski Street. On the front side, the vertical rhythm of the facade of the concert hall clearly indicates the entrance area and defines the function of the square outside. On the south side, which is the inner part of the complex, all applied architectural means are reduced to minimum, in order not to compete with the monuments.
